Pink Patina Drop Earrings

Pink patina with a drop bead. Genuine rose quartz or red jasper. 

Each pair begins with raw brass and is transformed through a patina handmade patina process that allows the metal to come alive with color. I use reactive acids when building layers of color directly on the surface on the brass or copper, creating everything from turquoise and sea green to warm copper, rust, amber, blush and deep earthy tones. 

The beauty of this process is that it can never be duplicated. The metal reacts differently each time, allowing the colors to bloom, shift, puddle and develop their own organic patterns. No two pieces are ever alike. 

I intentionally leave, and often create areas, where the brass is visible for extra detail and interest, allowing the shine and warmth of the metal to become part of the design rather than simply a background for the color, The result are little pieces of abstract paintings created through chemistry, metal and time - and my touch. 

Each piece is professionally sealed with a durable, skin-safe clear coating that helps preserve the finish to preserve the beauty. As with all handcrafted metal jewelry, it should be kept away from water, perfumes and harsh chemicals. 

I use 14 karat plated, stainless steel ear wires which are hypoallergenic and tarnish resistant.
